I love RTW blogs, but I've found that lately most of the ones I know have all been and come back, and are possibly going again.
Does anyone know any up-and-comers of the RTW blogging world, those just setting out for the first time? Until I can get out on my own, I'd like to live vicariously through some new-to-me bloggers!

RTW Bloggers in Preparation Stage/Leaving Soon?
Zoe and Matt
My husband and I just started out a month ago. We're mellowing in Oaxaca for another few days before heading to the coast. No multi-leg plane tickets for us; we're just winging it with as many modes of travel as we can. In April we meet up with the ship we'll crew with to the Caribbean. From there, maybe the Mediterranean, maybe back to Central America for a ship in the other direction, maybe a plane somewhere else. Check us out!

My husband and I are in the process of saving for our big trip. We're from the US & plan to head to Central & South America, parts of Africa, Southeast Asia & New Zealand. If all goes according to plan, we'll have enough money by next summer!

Hey Jessus,
We're in the planning stages — likely to leave in 2012. We're preserving observations as we plan, prepare and pack for a year-long RTW trip. We use our blog to uncover and record hidden gems to smooth the process of planning the ultimate journey.

"likely to go in 2012"......Jeez guys, how long before you actually go travelling? Seems like you have been talking about your trip for years now. What's the hold up? How much planning, preparation and packing does it take?
Not trying to get on your case, just want to understand why it is taking you so long to actually go?

No worries, good point. The plan around which our blog was built held that we would depart for a year-long journey in July 2011. That was dependent, of course, on whether Kate would be granted a sabbatical from her job as a teacher. I was less concerned with my career, as I had been planning a change anyway. From 2005 until the beginning of this year, I’d worked as a copyeditor in the research department of an investment bank. It was good work and I learned a tremendous amount about copyediting, and investment and finance. But after five years, I learned that it was a career in which I wouldn’t be satisfied. That’s when Kathryn and I began to plan for our trip around the world.
Since then, we've learned that a sabbatical won't be granted until Kate serves at least five years. And I've since moved on to a much more satisfying job that aligns work (copyediting and writing) with my passion (travel).
So what does this mean for Kathryn and I, and for our blog? Not much, really! Although we may be deferring our plans of travelling in to the future, we are not giving up on our dream of long-term travel. It’ll happen, just not this summer and not in 2011 as originally planned. We’ve really been energized by recent travel experiences to Ecuador, the Galapagos, Argentina and Chile and feel that there are a lot of meaningful and unique experiences to be had on shorter trips, too!

We are currently planning a RTW #2. We did our first departing late July 2008 and returning March 2009. That trip was mostly Southern Hemisphere, so we're hoping to focus on Northern Hemisphere this time. We were planning on starting in Japan, but since the earthquake is so recent, it doesn't quite feel like the right atmosphere to go wandering around enjoying the scenery in the south when so many people are suffering. Going and trying to volunteer somehow is still an option, but rearranging things and traveling to Japan a bit later in the trip is also a possibility. I have a number of friends there, who I really do want to see, so we'll see how things play out. Our passports with China Visa attached should be back any day now.
Our blog has a proposed routing, and it will be continued from the previous one:

Good luck with your own planning! It's the hardest part by far, especially if you're like me and seem to love to OD on research.

This is taken directly from your profile page.
"But no matter how beautiful or comfortable, we’re quietly reminded of the adage attributed to St Augustine: “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page”.
And so it was with St Augustine’s maxim echoing in our minds that we decided in August 2008 that we would trade in our clotheslines for Tibetan prayer flags. And while we’ve been happy enough to go on adventures, we’re now ready to live those adventures"
Ok guys, some criticism......... you have done quite a bit of promotion for your blog on this site. So to me it's a little hypocritical, in view of your choosing career over travel. What happen to those ideals?

We feel it's less an issue of choosing our careers over travel than balancing our needs and wants as a couple. We've both travelled long-term (pre-marriage — and actually pre-meeting one another) — and realize that it's much simpler to pack up and leave when you're on your own. Quitting teaching is not something Kate is prepared to do—as she loves it—and teaching jobs are not as easy to come by where we've settled. So, we'll do the next best thing and wait out another year until she's granted time away. We're lucky, however, to work jobs with ample time off that give us the ability to travel. In the past year, we've had a chance to visit Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Argentina — more travel than we've done in the intervening five years since we last travelled long-term.
That being said, there’s no doubt we see value in long-term travel—otherwise we wouldn’t have made it one of our ambitions and we’d certainly not be here wasting your time blogging about it. We believe it provides the opportunity for rejuvenation and relaxation, not unlike a “traditional vacation”. However, we view it as a chance for the traveller to hop off the treadmill and refocus one’s energy and vision. It’s an excellent way to recharge, take some time for yourself and see life from a different perspective. That's why it's a goal — one that we've not lost sight of.
Admittedly, we do link back to our blog — but only when it contains information that is germane to the thread — and it's something that we do sparingly, I think. And we always ensure that we include the relevant info on BootsnAll is well — and offer the link only if people are interested.

Seems to me that you're nit picking as they have both walked the walk. Also can't see how postponing travel for a time, for a very valid reason, can possibly be construed as "choosing career over travel"

No I disagree and here's why.
Kate and Dan have used this forum to promote their own travel style website, from which they clearly earn advertising revenue, under the guise of a "blog". Approx 50% of their posts has some kind of reference to it. Check it out, it's quite good for what it is.
If you look at their first post on this thread....It's a advert.
So after all this self promoting, you put your self up on a pedestal and if you do not follow through. Then be prepared to be knocked off.
"Two go RTW" - what a load of bullshit.
