We just launched our new travel blog "The Drifters' Blog" almost a month ago. Although our personal content focuses mainly on Asia as we are currently based out of Taiwan, rather than diary style posts, our layout is more like a travel newspaper instead. We're currently collecting around the world article submissions from many of our personal friends who are traveling or have traveled the globe recently. We are building content on destination pieces, travel tips, V-logs, journal clippings, travel fiction and travel philosophy that inspires. We're new, but building up. Check us out if you want and let us know what you think. We've also linked blogs with 2 other current globe drifters so far on our links page. http://DriftersBlog.com
JR@ DriftersBlog.com "The Drifters Blog" has tips, thoughts & inspiration for your next trip!

I'm back from my RTW, but I'm working in Kosovo at the moment and travelling around the balkans when I have time: http://www.tuisligh.com

I haven't got a blogroll of travel blogs on it, but it anyone is interested in a link swap let me know.

This thread has restored my faith in genuine travel blogs. Recently all I've been seeing are 'Ten best places to eat' or 'tips for train rides' type blogs. And one of the tips was 'bring snacks'. Oh, really?!? It seems to be about getting as many reviews done as possible these days to make money from blogs. I miss the days when people wrote real stories about what they were up to.

Haha I agree! This was one of the reasons I started this thread- soooo many "travel blogs" are written by people not actually traveling these days! And hey we can't be mobile all the time, but until I do rtw #2 I'm just writing about my weekend trips to NYC and Chicago and such- ho-hum to me, but fun to write and hopefully interesting to others. :)

Couldn't agree more. The only travel blog I read on a regular basis is "Uncornered Market." Dan and Audrey's posts have much more substance than the average travel blog.

When I'm not being melodramatic and thinking about quitting travel, I write here:

I haven't been writing much lately (that whole "thinking about quitting travel" part has taken up much of my energy), but I think I'll start writing again on a quasi-regular basis.

One of my favorites to read is Johnny Vagabond. His stories are funny, the pictures are great, and he has only been gone a few months. He is somewhere in SE Asia right now.

http://davegtravels.com

I'm not backpacking it but riding a moto. Ahh, life is nice not having to wait for buses, trains, or airplanes :D I do tend to meet more people at gas stations.

Route: SE Asia to Mongolia then West to Europe via the 'stans all overland except for the Pacific

Not quite RTW but will be spending the next year travelling around South and East Africa.

Hoping to take cool photo's, write interesting stories. Not trying to put myself under too much pressure to post but will be recording photo's and stories as I go and will post them when I have a connection.

Feel free to check in at intervals or follow my facebook page for updates.

Starting off with a 2night stop over in HK, before heading to AUstralia and seeing where the wind takes us. It's me, my husband (both 32) and our 2 daughters, Em will be 6 in November and Holly was 3 last weekend.
Hoping to sort out internet access quite quickly so the blog should liven up soon.

When I hear of people traveling on motorbike or bicycle, I am intimidated by how daunting it sounds.

After my first big moto trip, I can't go back to backpacking  . Or when I do, I feel really hampered and stressed because I'm feel like I'm constantly fighting over something that is really easy on moto -- leaving the current place and going to the next.

The tricky bits of moto travel is figuring out the paperwork situation before the trip and finding good parking. The paperwork deal is super easy in some regions (north/south america) and learning to say "secure parking" in local languages is always an adventure.

The best part is that you really get to explore a place. There is nothing like parking in a square of a tinnny little remote fishing village and being engulfed by extremely curious people 8-) .

Like all things that seem intimidating, read a few blogs and you'll realize that many of are shy/risk adverse nerds who just like to explore. It doesn't take anyone special to do it. If anyone has any questions about moto travel, just PM me. I'm always happy to share the love!
