Just took a look at this thread again after being away from it for some time and couldn't help but respond to travoholic's comment that "Brook doesn't expect to see most of these people ever again." It struck me as funny because I'm writing from Sabrina's apartment here in Amsterdam. She's the German I met in Australia for those who have seen the doc. I also met up with a lot of people from the trip/movie in April for the European premiere.

Don't think there's much gained from a big back and forth but I'll say that at the screening in Germany last week a few people made the same point made here, that I could have (or should have) focused more on interactions with local people. I think its a fair point. There were a number of reasons it didn't go that way, but I do think if you want to see that type of show there are plenty of them out there.

I certainly don't mind various opinions and surely none will be as rough as the review one Potsdam paper gave last week. Sabrina translated some of it for me then had to stop. "That's just mean," she said.

Just received the movie in the mail yesterday and watched it last night with my husband. We will be leaving for our rtw trip in October. As we drank our rioja and watched the movie in the comfort of our apartment, we couldnt help but contain our budding excitement! Obviously, it made our trip (we also bought our tix yesterday) that much more real, but it also made us face what we would be leaving behind or giving up entirely. We are absolutely ok with this, but it all became very very real last night.

I think Brook did an excellent job of doing what he set out to do. It even inspired us to bring our camcorder (we werent going to, but these things are meant to get used, not stored at home out of fear of being broken/stolen).

Brook I made that comment before watching the DVD extra bits. I was glad to see that you had managed to catch up with so many people again in Europe. I think I got the impression at the end of your movie that the trip was done, people gone and it was time to get back to 'real life' but I'm really glad that's not the case!

If anyone is interested, this is my latest project: TheInterviewpoint.com

It's a site for video interviews on the web...its not necessarily travel focused but we're in the middle of a series on Iceland which should be fun.

p.s. - check out the A Map for Saturday site in mid-October for a very cool contest I just got sponsored.
