RTW Itinerary.. HELP?!!

Postby Jeannine » December 22nd, 2008

Hello fellow wanderers!

I feel a little at odds because I am leaving at the end of June no matter what! I have always been drawn to New Zealand and as eager as I am to see everything I can that is my main pull for now. When looking at the globe I thought why skip all this in btw when you want to see it all. So started the plan to see Latin America for 3 months or so then fly from Brazil to New Zealand. From there to Australia, Asia, Nepal, India, Europe back to the states.

Now I recently seen that flights from New York to Europe are considerably less than S. America to New Zealand. Am I planning a retarded route is my question? Does it make more sense to travel to Europe, Nepal, India, Asia, Aus., New Zealand? Is Latin America out of the way no matter what? I am sorry but I am seriously geographically challenged. Just another reason why I need to travel! Please help with any info or suggestions. I will be buying tickets within the next few weeks. Also looking for travel mates and dates! take care and thanks in advance... Xmas4

Latin America does tend to be expensive to fly in and out of. So here's one option...start off as you planned in Latin America. Then take a flight from Latin America back to the US and then onwards to your next destination (New Zealand or Europe). Spirit Air generally has some pretty cheap flights (though they don't fly to Brazil so you'd have to pick somewhere else to leave from). Anyway, just a thought....

Maybe you can find some budget flights on www.which-budget.com Though from what I heard, flying between New Zealand or Australia and South America is always expensive (either way, so I would keep your original order - taking the expensive flight first, so you don't run out of money and then need to take the expensive flight). That's also the direction where jetlag is supposed to be least bad.
