Kilimanjaro: Rongai Route
Just got back from the trip. Loads of walking and loads of great fun/hard work! The Rongai route is spactacular. check out my pics on facebook ( Kilimanjaro Rongai Route, Raven Tours )
I am going back in early December. I am looking to put together a group of ten people. My guide and his team were incredible, will climb with them again. All the Kili scams were bypassed and the whole group was nothing but professional.

Re: Sept 10th Kilimanjaro
2 people is not an extraordinary number. All of the usual companies' service would be quite identical with what they'd do for just 2 clients. There's some favorite companies referenced in a lot of these threads here.
You should be more specific. How much hiking, climbing, or outdoors experience do you have? What's your budget? Do you want a bare-bones, budget hike or one with all sorts of extras like a private toilet, oxygen, etc.?
Any guide can take you on the Machame Route, I and many others on summit post, used a budget operator based in moshi Tanzania named mar tours(www.martoursandsafaris.com) and enjoyed our experiences!! my friend and i(just only two of us) climbed kili six days via machame route with them. We paid ~1143US per person not including tip (we tipped $235pp). They are a locally owned budget style company and i highly recommend them.
Finally i Recommend:
-take DIAMOX or something the equivalent to
-start drinking LOTS of water prior to arriving Kili and continue to drink LOTS of water on Kili (force yourself to drink)
-try to avoid alcohol, coffee, & BIG meals leading up to Kili as this does not help with the oxygen flow in your body (more technical reason, but do not remember it).
-after dinner each night, take a hike up trail for about 20-30 minutes to gain a higher elevation than what you are sleeping at (this might help out a little).

The meals question is a funny one. I found that food which is easily digestable is best.
Big meals of things which are difficult to digest was bad for me.... chew well as mommy used to say!
soups are perfect, I found.
