I agree, but I'm talking about Queens.

Your right! And I've been there and I got it wrong.

But Queens is a dirty word too.

I guess it depends on where people are staying and how they're getting here.

Astoria is one of the places in the city where it's possible to park on the street overnight for free. It's also a $10 taxi ride from LaGuardia, 9 stops w/o transfer from Times Square on the subway, a single bus from the hostel on 114th in Manhattan, and the Beer Garden is one of the few public places you can drink and smoke at the same place, and it's near a lot of good Greek and Italian food.

However, when it comes to leaving and heading somewhere with more of a nightlife, you'll have a 30-45 minute subway ride with nowhere to pee to get downtown.

Is this good?

Actually, I wouldn't mind the beer garden. It's big and the beer is reasonable. The only concern I'd have with it is that I've had to wait in line for 15 minutes or more sometimes to get a beer.

The beer garden plan would also be entirely contingent on the weather.. and we don't always have the best luck with weather. Smile

I don't mind how long it takes to get a beer because I'll send someone else to get it for me.

You've made my day, with that video!
Before I watched it, I was relegated to playing and replaying "Blame Canada" to deal with a Canadian Co-worker...Now, I'll put all petty-ness aside and just look forward to the meetup.

I listed Grassroots, and Jimmy's earlier, along with another place that has since moved to Brooklyn.

Now, I'm lobbying for the Beer Garden. I can't describe the magic and rabble-rousing that goes on there. They have huge tents set up now, so rain from the comfort of a tent, surrounded by hearty eastern Europeans, would be really great. Its really not out of the way, and the party can always train down to the lower east side when things get kicking anyway. The Meet-Up can become a long conga line across Manhattan!!

Once, I was there when the bartender started singing in an opera voice, then some young guys joined in...songs from the homeland...I made up some words about.."my little village and the green pastures..." and they turned out to be almost a perfect translation. Funny.

With all of us beer drinkers, we can do pitchers, and most likely will only have to wait in line once!!

Oh my god, I LOVE this!

I don't remember me putting glasses on and shushing, but maybe I'll have to do it again at this meetup to practice, hahah! I can't wait!

And non-beer drinkers, yes, there is other things to drink besides beer! YAY!

Everyone, bring your cameras!
