short-term apt rentals in tel aviv?

Postby dahno1 » May 26th, 2005

I have vague plans to be in Tel Aviv from early July through late August. I'd like to rent an apartment but because my stay is short-term I'm not sure if it's possible. I was about to investigate options, and thought I'd start here first. Which is to say, I've done nothing yet. Smile

My only prereqs are:
* must be on or by the beach
* rent cannot cannot cannot be higher than 800/month

I know you can get nice digs in Tel Aviv for 400-600, and even less, but I don't know how being by the beach, and how being short-term, affects this. And the lower the price, the better for me, cos I am currently in voluntary temporary early retirement. Big Grin Also I haven't been in Israel since I was 13 (13 years ago), so my knowledge of neighborhoods and what's a good place to be, what's boring, etc, is nonexistent.

If you know of a good inexpensive hostel ( under $25/night ), I might consider that too. Though I wanted my own place so I'd have a kitchen and living room...

So does anyone know of some kinda apartment complexes, hostels, hotels, or any other ideas, that would fit my idea? Thx!

for future reference, if anyone else ever needs some info... I found the following site the most useful:

http://www.homeless.co.il/

But it is in Hebrew. It seems like a Craigslist sort of deal, but for apartments.

There's also a Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TelAvivFlats/

But this group seems to list only people looking for apartments and sublets.

As for hostels and hotels and 'holiday rentals' - there's plenty, but they're all way more expensive than apartments in Tel Aviv.

Sadly it looks like I may have to delay my 2 month trip anyway, but if anyone else ever looks here for info, hope this helps.

Looks like they are only 1 bedroom apartments. Anyone know of any other places to find short term tel aviv apartment rentals, like 2 or 3 bedroom?
