Hi all,
I'm thinking of applying for summer camp usa this summer.
The main problem I have is deciding between the programmes offered by BUNAC and that offered by CCUSA. They basically both arrange for participants to be hooked up with the actual camps and find the places within the camps.
Also has anyone else got any general advice / been and done camp america and have any good or bad experiences?
cheers
Jon

I worked at a summer camp about four years ago. One of my co-workers was a Brit who came over with CCUSA.
The good:
He got free transport, a guaranteed job, and it sounds like no one jerked him around.
The bad:
Limited time to travel around USA on his own. Almost no pay (since camp jobs pay poorly anyway, and all his money went to pay for his transport), he was basically volunteering. He didn't get to "pick" exactly which camp to work at. He got to choose from only a few options.
If you want to travel through the USA, there's better ways to do it. But if you watched "Wet, Hot American Summer" and like the idea of summer camp life, then give it a shot. Camp life is pretty fun.
