Survival hike

Tomorrow I leave for a 5 day trip in the Wenaha/Tucannon wilderness area, taking no food, but a fishing pole, frying pan, sleeping bag liner, cooking oil, camera, etc. When I fixed the dates on this trip I didin't realize we would have a record heat wave, so was really questioneing my sanity this morning as i left my summer home on hoods canal to get ready for the trip. Should lose 10 pounds easy so that will be good.

Good luck, mate. Try to stay cool, drink plenty o' water and let us know how it went when you return.

Well, luckily the guy who I conned into going with me on this trip brought along some freeze dried food as the fishing was absolutely awful. A lot of mink in the river, never seen three before in my whole life and saw three in one day and think maybe they ate alll the decent sized trout. On our hike out i squeezed out my sweat band about 5 times, and when got to the nearest thermometer, discovered it was 110 degrees. Sheesh it was hot. Am not rushing back to that place anytime soon, but it was an experience, the scenery was neat, saw some game and had a good workout.
