Hey all! I started, at the urging of the 60hr TEFL training course I'm taking, a Yahoo! Group on Tefling. It's called the NY TEFL Exchange, but you don't have to be from New York, I just called it that for the purpose of giving it a name. And since you all have such a vast wealth of knowledge to impart, I'd like for you all to come join us and, if at all possible, contribute to the experience. You're all a great bunch here, and my classmates are awesome too.
Here's the homepage:

I do believe you'll need a Yahoo! ID to get started.
Thanks!
(sorry if this is at all against the board's rules.)

What are tags?
Hi Sean - that's a great idea! I have to admit sometimes I get to the point of having too many passwords to remember and such, but if I can suggest this: if you come across an interesting topic or question over there, let us know over here
I think there are a lot of interested and current teachers at Bootsnall; sometimes people are slower to reply to the same few intro questions because they've answered them a few times already, but with the right questions I think an interesting discussion can arise.
Good luck with the yahoo group and the teaching...

Slovakia is okay, though experience helps in getting a full-time position that includes housing. Bratislava is an hour away from Vienna, and a return ticket from this end costs about 8€, so that's really nice.
I realize this is kind of vague - let me know if you have specific questions and I'd be glad to help.

The Yahoo community groups are actually great resources. My guess is that many people don't even know that they exist where they are. During my three years in Chungju in S.Korea - we had quite an active Yahoo group. It was just a good communication device for what people were doing - were going to do Friday or Saturday night - where people might be meeting up - who is having a party, book exchange, job opening, etc.
No matter where you are in the world it is probably worth a seach to see if there is an active local group.

Thanks for reiterating that Ted!
BTW, the group now has 14 members, some actual TEFL lesson plans, some great links, and even some neat photos (photos so far include Japan, Buenos Aires and Rome).
Still recruiting members, the more potential and existing ESL or TEFL teachers, the more netowrking opportunities!!
