The best music, I've never heard of?

I love the fact that people here are from every different part of the world.

So for a Englishman living in New Zealand, what the best band that I have never heard of?

I recommend listening to a good variety of his music, because every album has a very different sound to it. For example, in contrast to Elecktra (from the album Culture), the album Brio has a more acoustic guitar sound to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlaPju5jvj8

I don't want to be stuck with particular genres of music, I think people will then try to tailor choice based on what they think I might like, rather than what they like as an individual.

From England I like Kate Nash quite a bit.

World - Manu Chao, Lhasa de Sela, Lila Downs, Xavier Rudd
