Hi,
New member here.
Thought I'd share this slideshow (with captions) from my capsule hotel experience in Tokyo in May 2010.

I also wrote an accompanying article about the experience, which is here.

Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for sharing! I've been to Japan, but never had the chance to do a capsule hotel... now though I think I'll try to put that on the list, as well as "love hotel". :)

Unfortunately I have never been to Japan but I would love to visit this amazing country. Thank you for sharing the slideshow. Hopefully I can soon visit Tokyo and I would also love to stay in a capsule hotel. At least I think I would only want to stay there for one night. Just to see how it feels to sleep in a capsule.

One thing to bear in mind with both capsule hotels and love hotels is that many of them don't cater for foreign guests - the capsule hotel in this example is cealry one that does cater for foreigners, but that is not always the case.

The problem is one of language - they want to be able to explain the rules of these places to people, and so unless the foreigner is a good Japanese speaker this is a problem. It is one they could easily get around with pre-printed information, but hey ho, they don't!

Like the OP here I've stayed in a capsule in Tokyo and absolutely loved the experience - although it wouldn't be so good for an extended stay, but is a fun novelty and definitely something to experience.

In Tokyo I also had a night in an internet cafe, which comes complete with food, drinks, shower room and big reclining chair which can be hired for the whole night - oh, and you get the internet too!
