I'm having difficulty finding up to date information about transport from Cairo to Dakhla Oasis and from Dakhla Oasis to Luxor. I plan on spending 2-3 days in Dakhla before going to Luxor.

I'm fairly certain that there must be buses that go from Cairo to Dahkla, but have not yet found departure times. I'm assuming that it's 8-10 hours from Cairo.

However from what I've read, there are no buses or even service taxis from Dakhla to Luxor.
If that is the case does anyone know what the prices would be for a private taxi?

The minute you land in Cairo you will be surrounded by lots of people who will be offering "special prices for you my friend" to any and everywhere in Egypt. Your hotel's desk staff will have "a brother" who will conveniently be going exactly where you want to go, there will be a travel agency IN your hotel, or you will walk past travel agencies on every block in the hotel-laden neighborhoods anywhere near the museum. There is no price. The price is whatever they can get you to pay. Good luck with that. But one thing you should certainly NOT worry about is whether you'll be able to find someone willing to take your money in exchange for something hopefully close to whatever trip you want to go on and "agree" upon. If you want to go from Cairo to Dahkla Oasis to Luxor you will be able to.
