I was just wondering...
would it be worth while to have a Bootnsall forum here, kinda stripped down Ebay type thing, for people who want to sell their used travel books or gear....?

Hmm - maybe. The issues I see with it are how does the user ship and want to send stuff all over the country/world.
Example: I am an Aussie and just got back from a trip - figure I am done with my backpack and want to sell - his market to sell would be most likely near by in Oz. A local newspaper or bulletin board might be better?
No? Or am I missing something?

Sean - your point is well taken, but I think the used gear thing is a good idea. Of course folks would have to use common sense, but if they want to pay fifty bucks shipping to save ten off retail, then I guess that's their biz.
Ideally it should be a strictly private affair, meaning no staff involvement. This limits your liability and saves Bootsn'y'all the ass pain dealing with complaints. You also don't want it clogging up your server.
Liability issues aside, I don't think the income potential is worth going whole hog with auction software, anyway. You don't want to spend all day troubleshooting my 10 dollar used sneaker auction
. For now it seems to me the best idea is just a virtual bulletin board. Oh, and if folks want to make a little love offering when they sell their gear, that would be sweet too.
Either that or "just say no" an put up a link to a site like MEC's
