Hello all,
I am living in Asia but I've run into a health problem that doesn't allow me to fly. Long story short, I want to know if anyone has any information on a boat/ship that travels from vaguely where I am (bangkok) to vaguely where I want to go (california).

It looks to me like the travel company listed in that blog post: http://www.freighter-travel.com/ would be the best place. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.
