I know that I have some experiences that make me laugh when I looked back at them but seemed pretty serious at the time. People who travel always have their funny stories, often revolving around the funny traits or ways of behaving in different situations, or spelling on signs, menus etc. It's not that we're culturally insensitive etc., some things are alien to us and humour is a good way to cope. I have some international student friends, and International friends, they laugh a lot 'at' me or 'us'!!! We are the unofficial U.N.
I get out of sinc with the audience's laughter at the Indian cinema, this can be embarrassing! I flew on an Indian plane which had a square painted on it's side with the words "Cut here in the case of an emergency"! We all looked at each other and laughed, a way of coping!!
Here are a couple of sites that I found. The first one is 'Quotes from Flight Attendants', a bit like quotes from court rooms etc.
http://doctorcruise.com/jokes.htm I did not look at the rest of the site, so I'm not recommending.
This next site is so good. I realized that is from Oz after a couple of pages, their name should have warned me but I didn't notice the au. It may not be politically correct for some, so be warned, but I had tears rolling down my face. There is some travel advice on the site, under 'Useful Shit' some good links to other sites try 'Engrish', 'Roadsideamerica', and for the Aussies 'Alby Mangels' (he was there before Crocodile Dundee and the Crocodile Hunter). Enjoy it!!!
