These come up from time to time, and I thought it might be a good idea to collect them all here. If you see or know of one that people could submit photos to, put the entry information - or, better yet, a weblink - here for everyone to see.
And good luck to everyone who enters a photo contest!

Adding this one to this thread; it's already up, but here it is again to start things off...

Perceptive Travel is giving away a Citiescape Asia box set (one of those lovely Lonely Planet things) to the winner of its photo contest. Deadline is Feb. 28, 2007, and the photo must be from one of the following cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon, Tokyo, Sydney, Kathmandu, Singapore, or Bejing.

LP has a running photo contest via their Flickr group. I can't find anything about prizes (beyond bragging rights), so if you find something about that, post it here.

Re the river photo contest. I just looked at the link, and as far as I can tell, the grand prize in each category is....."American Rivers" gets to use your photo on their website. That's just crazy generous.

Ha... I didn't see that (obviously). Yes, they are overflowing with generosity, aren't they? Well, at least they didn't say, "When you win, you get to pay us to use your picture!" (Oh, crap, did I just give them an idea?)

Photography is one of my favorite on-the-road activities. I've never been good at winning any contests, but I did decide to go for the Perceptive Travel contest a few days ago.
Nice thread. Thanks for keeping it up-to-date. If I find anything, I'll contribute.

be careful about which contests you enter and READ THE FINE PRINT!
Many want you to submit your best images, which become the property of the company sponsoring the event. This means they can use your image, forever, to make money, did i mention forever?
Most of these "contests" are ruses designed to get cheap (free) images.
You are giving away your rights when you enter these contests.
Please do yourself and everyone out there a favor and READ THE FINE PRINT. Don't let yourself be suckered into giving away your best images for free.

Thanks for the warning. I never thought that a contest could be used in this way.

It's time again for the annual National Geographic Traveler photo contest. I think I'm going to send in some entries this year. Who else is going to?
