Oakland, California. A place that gets dissed too often. Wonderful weather, really diverse community, lots of great restaurants. There is a there there, at least to me.

It's the largest island in North Africa and the place Odysseus got hung up for several years.

Andorra la Vella, Andorra

This pretty capital town (too small to be called a city) of micro country Andorra is located in stunning Pyrenees mountain range. It's a popular destination for skiing in the winter, but my husband and I backpacked there during summer time (2009). The summer view was stunning. Mountains, sheep, and their stone churches (pictured here) are unique looking, especially the bell tower (I haven't seen this type of bell tower anywhere else). What surprised me about the place is, weapon stores are everywhere there!

An interesting multi-ethnic community in New York which is currently trying to dig itself out of a massive blizzard.

Small town in Wales close to the Brecon Beacons where I briefly did some horse riding in the cold rain without any gloves on, on a horse that just wanted to eat bits of grass instead of trot along...

Francisco de Xavier made a brief, unsuccessful visit to Yamaguchi City in 1550, but nearly five centuries later, there's a huge church named for him there.

Innisfail is a town located in the far north of the state of Queensland, Australia, which until 1910 was known as Geraldton. It is the major township of the Cassowary Coast and is well renowned for its sugar and banana industries, as well as for being one of Australia's wettest towns. In March 2006 Innisfail gained worldwide attention when severe Tropical Cyclone Larry passed over causing extensive damage.
