I will be traveling in the Czech Republic, Hungary and then to Croatia. What is the best way to reach Croatia - plane, train or drive - and once there what is the best way to get around and see the sights?

Hope this isn't too late for your trip -

I'd say that buses are going to be the best for what you want to do. There are a few trains per day that leave Budapest for points south and pass through Croatia, but buses will take you right to your destination. If you really wanted to take trains, you might be able to get one to Zagreb and then change to a bus there.

The best way to see most of the major sites in Croatia is going to be by bus. Buses in Croatia will take you to every major point, from which you can either take further public transportation, catch a ferry, or work out some other way to get anywhere specific you want to go. You didn't mention any specific places you wanted to go in Croatia, so that's the best advice I can give you right now.

Hope you have a great trip! Croatia is beautiful!

There is not a well developed train network in Croatia so buses are the best and cheap mode to get around in Croatia. However the buses on the islands are bit slow and not frequent so renting a car is the best way to travel around on islands. When I was there used the services of Croatiarentalcars dot com
and they offered me a good car at pretty nice rates. This way one can also look for cheaper accommodations in out of the way places as these can be easily reached by rental car.
