Should my wife and I wear our wedding bands on our 1 year RTW trip? Hers is a simple narrow white gold band and mine is a darker metal (Tungsten Carbide). Will this attract unwanted attention? I'm kinda torn on this one and interested in hearing what any of you have done/experienced.

Absolutley wear them!! If you aren't wearing diamonds and she isn't wearing glittery jewel earrings, you are going to be fine theif-wise. Also a lot of places (some Muslim countries) will be easier to get a double room if you have them on and give you more respect. And if your wife ever goes out alone, she will get slightly less attention and can always flash her wedding band to ward off unwanted advances. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

When I traveled in Africa, I always wore a wedding band because it helps keep down unwanted attention and it helps explain you as a couple. We weren't married yet at that point, but I recommend it for all couples married or not.

If you are really worried about losing those particular rings, I would get a less expensives one to wear. However, I wear my gold band (my post-wedding real wedding ring) every where now when I travel and I never get any attention around it as being expensive or attractive to thieves.

I doubt they would attract attention as wedding rings are so common in the world. And honestly if you haven't lost them yet in the day-to-day you probably wouldn't while traveling!

My wife - before we were married - did wear a wedding band set in our travels, diamonds and all (not big diamonds). I've found the problem with having a wedding ring with me while traveling is that I can't sleep with it on, so tend to remove it...I haven't forgotten it anywhere, but it has been packed into my things and caused a bit of panic when I realize its missing.
