I will be in Port of Spain for two nights. Six days in Tobago. I will be staying at Candles in the wind on Tobago. I plan to go to Little Tobago with a tour with David Rooks. Whom should I take a Forest Reserve trip with? Any good drinking places on Tobago? Where is the best place for cheap food in Tobago?

I don't know where Candles in the Wind is, but I stayed towards the western end of the island near Little Rockly Bay. Scarborough was within walking distance (couple of miles). On the seaside road to Scarborough I found this WONDERFUL place perched on the hillside, near the road and at the base of Patience Hill. It's a wooden structure, looks like a big gazebo, outdoor seating. The owner it (or former owner - this was some years ago) is an Italian guy who married a woman from Trinidad and Tobago. Wonderful food, friendly hosts, not expensive.

Scarborough is a small town, but the biggest one on Tobago. There are, of course, bars and restaurants throughout the town, but Tobago is quiet and laid back, especially in comparison to Port of Spain. The Blue Crab is one place I recall that was fun. The nightlife on Tobago is not terribly lively.

Jemma's Sea View Restaurant near Speyside has great food, though service is slow and there's no alcohol served. But you can get a table on their treetop platform and look out over the ocean!

Antonio's was the name of the gazebo restaurant outside of Scarborough.

Candles in the wind? Where is that??

I would just show up in Charlotteville (northwest) and get one of the fishermen to take me out to Little Tobago... They can also take you to secluded beaches.

Cheap food - try the Roti stands, you'll find them everywhere. Scarborough has some horrible fast-food places where you pick what you want from a heated display case. I'd stay away from those Wink

Good drinking places - try Sunday School in Buccoo village, it's a weekly party. Tobago is really sleepy... and people tend to just hang out by their boats and drink all day. I hope you like rum Big Grin

Thanks for the info. I just got back. Candles ... in the wind is a guesthouse that opened 5 years ago. They have 8 bedrooms with bath and a/c. They have 2 full kichens to cook meals. There is a washer and dryer that can be use at no charge. The Store Bay beach is easy walk to. It only cost 35 US dollar a night. A steal.

Tobago - a well known Island. Thats for sure.
But if any of you guys want to see REAL Trinidad , there is only one plac to go - Chateau Guillaumme Comfort Zone Bed & Breakfast.
They will pick you up from the airport, and their guesthouse is VERY nice, clean, and the bargain prices include breakfest!! And Matthew, the best guide EVER, will take to the most amazing places and show you Trinidad from a completely unexpected side. Wonderful person - after only 3 days I we treated him as a close friend, and in these 3 days I found out more about Trinidad than in 7 days about tobago...
Here's link to their website: http://www.caribsurf.net/cguillaumme/
