Unsure of where to go after Cameroon

I will be spending the next six months volunteering in Cameroon. I'm hoping to continue traveling after leaving Cameroon but I've had some difficulty in figuring out my next destination. When all is said and done, I should have about $4000 and be proficient in French. I was wondering if there were any destinations near to Cameroon that would be a good starting point for a new backpacker? Some places I've considered are Turkey, Morocco, Lebanon, and Ghana.

Thanks for the post and if you looked further into EastAfrica i would reccomend Uganda the pearl of Africa with great backpacking and $ 4000 would work well with Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking and you would see some gaming with source of the Nile tour.
