Passengers coming upon VietNam Airlines staff - other than cabin crews, or seeing school children and police wearing masks in Ha Noi and SaiGon might be excused being alarmed but these are some of the official responses to Pig Fever/Swine Flu/H1N1 or something that is affecting the population.

Fast-food workers, bus drivers and even market employees are among the newly masked wearers.

Complicating control of the spread of this potentially, though rarely, fatal disease are the abysmal toilet facilities - really adding a new dimension to the meaning of abysmal - found in many schools even in the larger cities.

Now there are fears of an outbreak of pneumonic plague in northwest China spreading to the nearby areas of VietNam.

Notwithstanding, come and visit this great country and maybe pack some Tamiflu in case!

What's a Thorn Tree?
Is it like the tree I saw in Manila with all the garbage sticking to it like leaves?
