The Personal Must Do's

Seeing the picture of the Fjords in the 'Favorite hikes around the world?' painfully reminded me that this is one of those places on my Must Do short list that I haven't been to yet.
I reckon, around here most people would probably travel anywhere really - just to see. I do anyway. However, there is a pretty short list of places that - for some reason or the other...or none particular reason at all - I consider as a personal Must Do. Some I've done, some are still up there.

Murmansk, Russia
Don't ask me why. And even before I got there, I knew it won't be something 'special' (from a beauty point of view). Still, felt great to be there...

Timbuktu, Mali
Whatever you read about it...it doesn't really seem one of those destinations that you need to go. Still want to though.

The Fjords, Norway
I find that one obvious: somebody has to admire Slartibartfast's work.

K2 base camp
Because I like to freeze my ass off. Wink Nah, because I like Pakistan as a destination and K2 bc is a little less frequented than Everest bc.

Easter Islands
Dunno, those statues have always fascinated me.

Iran
I met a guy once who said that he's been to places in Iran that still look like Marco Polo described them. I got to check that out.

What about your Must Do's?

Hhmmm, here's a few in no particular order:

1) Climb Mont Blanc in the French Alps, near Chamonix.

2) The Fjords and everything else in Norway.

3) Cultural travel to Croatia and some of the former Soviet Republics.

4) Hang gliding in Chattanooga, TN -
HangGlide.com

5) Stalk wildlife in Alaska.

6) Sightsee and sail in the Italian Lake District.

......and the list goes on. Trinque

Also in no particular order:

1 - Russia. St.Petersburg, Moscow and the Trans-siberian Railway to Vladivostok.

2 - Croatia. Particularly Dubrovnik

3 - The Greek Islands. Went to Athens but not the isles. SOOOOO want to. On second thought, make that my first choice.

4 - Japan

5 - Iran

6 - Some of the surrounding 'Stans' I didn't make it to while in Afghanistan. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, etc.

7 - Morocco and Tunisia

8 - Muscat, Oman. I Go to Dubai frequently but never made it over to the other side.

9 - Australia

Based on personal research and stories from fellow travelers, I must do:

A girl from Colombia
A girl from Costa Rica
A girl from Argentina
A girl from Australia
A girl from Lebanon
Another girl from Australia
And a girl from Vietnam.

That's my international 'must do' list.

Clearly you must have had a lapse of memory by not mentioning A girl from Brazil.

What's wrong with girls from Poland then? Crazy

Brazilians are overrated. Colombianas are the reigning queens of South America. Just look at Shakira.
Regarding Australians, I've never gone down under (oh, god, what a pun!), but everybody I know that has said it was a life-changing experience.
Polish girls? I have no idea. Take a vacation to Honduras and I'll let you know what I think.

We have so derailed this thread... sorry...

Back on track:

Cuba before Castro kicks it.
Spend several months in South America, hitting the Galapagos and Easter Island with it.
Egypt and the pyramids.
Greece and Turkey.
Australia.
And after seeing his pictures, convince Gard to be my personal guide through Norway Big Grin

- Iran and Syria - I was to go there this year, but due to pressure (read blackmail) from my loved ones, the trip didn't happen ... but I'm working on a very sneaky Suspicious plan B which should get me there next year.

- Iceland

- Kyrgyzstan - I don't know why, but it's high on my "to visit" list

- Tibet
