funds to re-start after RTW?

Hi everyone! This is my first post. I'm Canadian but live in Japan and am planning an RTW for 2005. I haven't seen any mention of people saving funds to re-establish themselves after the RTW is over. Does anyone do this? What is a reasonable amount?
I won't be coming back to Japan - I will be relocating back to Canada (and my husband immigrating). I figured US$10,000 would be reasonable start up funds.
If this is way out of line let me know - either I have to save harder, or my trip just got extended! Big Grin

Experience of a non-saver.

I came back skint (20 pence in my pocket to make a 20 second phone call for a lift) and 50 baht.

It was an awful feeling and an experience I never ever want to repeat. Next time I go, I will make damn sure I have something to come back too.

As for a monetary value, I look at it from a job perspective, as long as there's employment, there's money. Just keep enough for a deposit, month rent and provisions money.
