Hostel for a couple

I don't know if there is a section on boots about hostel reviews or not; I have looked. If there isn't, I highly recommend setting one up!
Can anyone suggest a cheap and cheerful hostel which caters for couples that want to have a room to themselves? This is for Sydney, ideally within the centre of the city. I am looking at Dulwich Hill YHA...any comments on this one?
Cheers!

The Boots Hostels Guideis in small print over there top right with other small print headings.

As to Sydney, most hostels and YHA included have twin/dbl rooms, prices varying and Dulwich Hill probably a little cheaper being a little further from CBD, but have you looked at YHA central, railway square, glebe, and www.glebevillage.com I think it is might also be worth a look, glebe ones being a hefty walk from CBD, but not too bad.

If you were planning on staying for three weeks or so, you could look at www.sydneyterraces.com and not sure on what the cost is but www.wattlehouse.com.au could be worth a look too.

YHA's are generally quiet, the one in the CBD seemed pretty quiet I checked it out but didn't end up staying there as it was too quiet for my "single" needs. I would suggest staying in the city then in the burbs, much easier to get through the city. There is one right near where central station is and where the train drops you off from the airport. If you are looking for a younger atmosphere check out the The Wake Up

It is predominantly a younger crowd, bar in the basement, decent travel desk, solid location to the train station, but my first recommendation would be the YHA in the CBD

I looked at the reviews pointed out to me by tickles, and the Pink House was so highly reviewed, and sounded just right for us, that we're now booked there! Yay! Big Grin
(Not sucking up here, Bootsnall is great!)

Hmmmm, Pinkhouse, Kings Cross area is also red light district or becoming more known for having supervised injection rooms and the accompanying clientele that attracts.

Not exactly city centre either.

Have a look on BUG it's (Backpackers Ultimate Guide), they are hostel reviews that are done by backpacker for backpacker.

I have used it a few times and it has saved me from staying in flea pits! It also gives more upto date and honest reviews than your Lonely Planet hopefully you will find a couple of little gems.
