Me and my boyfriend are looking at going to bali at the begining of january for 2 weeks.

A few people have told us that january is a bad time to go because it rains most days and we will be stuck in our hotel most of the time because of the rain.
But than one of my friends was over there in january this year and said it only rained twice in the two weeks he was there!
So im not to sure if we should look at going somewhere else or not Confused
But i really do have my heart set on bali!

So my question to you guys is:
Is january a bad time to travel to bali?

Welcome to Boots Lisa, hope you find it to be the great friendly nation it is.

World climate records are one indicator and from that aspect, yes January is the wettest month, the weather there being similar to northern Oz.

As you are aware, our drought continues and the north, other than for the odd cyclone is experiencing similar, though they have had already some unseasonable early rains, so on one hand it could be drier and then it could bucket down.

Have a look at www.tigerairways.com and you'll see it is pretty cheap to get to Singapore and then you could move on to Malay or Thailand islands, their rainy season will have finished.

Hi Lisa,

If you look at charts and graphs and data yes a lot of water comes down! But don't worry it all comes down at once, an hour or two later it clears up and is fine. you might get a couple of rainy cloudy days out of two weeks, but you might not.

The downpours normally happen around sundown (not every day) when I always think it gets hotter and more humid, (is that just me?). Do what everyone else seems to do take a cooling shower and have a snooze before dinner.

I seem to have ended up in Bali and Java every year for the last 6 years with work to do and this is the only problem - flying aroung Indonesia on small planes can be quite exiting if you get a tropical shower.

Given the choice I would allways go to Bali at this time of year over peak season - but then I am in London and January is !"£$ weather here.

I was over there around august/september 3 years ago and it rained most days in the afternoon for about an hour like Old Teak said.

We have decided to go in january and besides it cant rain for 2 weeks straight right!
So i think we should be fine Smile
