I'm doing a Mt Kilimanjaro trek in about a weeks time (getting excited!). The trek is out of the Keys Hotel in Moshi.

The way the flights worked out, I have two spare days after the trek - actually three days but one will be spent travelling back to Nairobi for the flight home. My plan was to hang around Moshi or Arusha.

Any suggestions on what to do? Has anyone been on any cultural tourism programs out of either city (or one of the towns like Marangu or Machame)?

We had a spare day or two before our kili climb + went on one day to Arusha national park (at foot of Mount meru) - It's a short drive (30mins) from arusha/moshi and easy to do in a single day - great scenery + plenty of wildlife (except elephants/ big cats.) Plus you get a good view of what you are about to climb!
Certainly good for a day safari + not expensive
