Visa questions

Figure out the best place to stay on Khao San Road in Bangkok and where to escape when you've had enough of the mayhem. From Singapore Slings to the changes in Bejing after the 2008 Olympics, gab about it all here.

Visa questions

Postby Andsma » October 19th, 2009

Me and my girlfriend are going to Asia after newyear and I have a few questions about Visas, I am a Norwegian and have found the info im looking for for my own applications, but my girlfriend is Dutch and therfor a member of the EU and I assume there are different regulations for EU members and non EU members such as me. We are wondering if she will have to send an visa application to the Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese etc embassy in Holland or if she can apply for a visa trough the Indian (...) ebassy in Norway, as she is not a Norwegian citicen but has lived here for over 20 years. And also: wich of the following nations will a Dutch citisen need to apply for a visa from( we will probably stay in each for betwen 14 and 30 days): India, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Malaysia

This visa page may help you.

Searching around the rest of that section should also get your answers to the other countries as well.

Norwegians can enter VietNam for 2 weeks before having to get a visa (inside VietNam).

Your girlfriend will HAVE TO GET A VN VISA BEFORE HEADING FOR THE BORDER.

Cambodia, Thailand and Laos are visa on arrival (no pre-authorisation),

China everyone needs visa before heading there.

correction about visa for Laos:
you cannot get a visa on arrival at every border post: e.g. you cannot get a Laos visa at Sam Neau (border with Vietnam) and Attapeau

For Indian Visa, non norwagiens can aply in Oslo.

From the indian embassy website in Oslo.

Please send inquiries to cs@indemb.no or by fax to +47 24115929

Due to an increase in visa applications, we are unable to answer all phone calls. Please email your queries instead.

Processing time

The Embassy makes every effort to issue tourist and business visas within five working days after receipt of application, provided all documentation is complete.

For applicants who are not ethnic Norwegian (i.e are originally from another country or with parents who belong to another country), an additional five working days processing time is required. There are also additional processing fees.

We are not able to make individual arrangements for quicker processing, nor is there any ‘urgent visa’ service available. There could be delays depending on individual processing requirements.

I'm heading to Vietnam in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone has experience with the visa on arrival. Do I only need to bring a couple passport photos and fill out everything when I go through customs? I am American and currently in Singapore.

Anyone use myvietnamvisa.com?

Thanks,

Steve
