was considering this package trip

Eire is more than just Guinness, green hills and redheads... Come talk about what makes Ireland so special.

was considering this package trip

Postby sissyt » July 9th, 2008

I receive a weekly 'travel deals' email and was considering taking this trip with my husband and his brother and wife. Is this as good of a deal as it seems? This place looks really great but is it? Thanks for any input.

It does sound like a good deal. Basically flight and accomodation for the price of the flight. I wasn't clear (there was a lot of fine print) about what all's included, so I'd assume that things like meals and so on would be extra, and I wasn't sure on the golf. Which means to keep it to a reasonable budget, you'll probably have to travel a bit to find affordable meals. Which probably means renting a car, paying for gas (expect a new appreciation of $4 gas), etc. So it adds up, but still looks pretty good.

It does come with a rental car so gas, food, and fun are the extras. None of us are golfers so that part is lost on us but we've never been to Ireland so I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time.

It sounds good. I grew up about 30 mins from Adare and it's an absolutely beautiful village filled with thatched cotteges, a park, an old abbey and within driving distance of some great scenery in Clare and Kerry, as well as some good shopping in Limerick city. Adare Manor is gorgeous. I've never been inside, but I've stared at it while driving past dying for an oppurtunity to go inside. Very exclusive! In terms of food, there are plenty of pubs/hotels/restaurants in the village that do reasonably priced meals. I also noticed that you get a tour of Waterford Crystal included in the package - check that out because I have a niggling feeling Waterford Crystal may have closed down.....don't quote me on that, it's just a hunch!
