I read that you need to carry 3-4 liters of water with you. In Nepal (everest bc) we carried about 2 liters as there were typically water sources (wells, taps) after every 2-3 hours of hiking. Can anyone advise the frequency of water sources? Will use the pills to purify so I do not need bottled or boiled.

You'll need to carry all your water for the day. There are no places between camps to replenish. The guides will typically fill your containers for you each day.

Hi TF,

Although you should be aiming to drink around 3-4 litres a day, you will only need to carry around 2 litres in your rucksack for your day's walking.

There is no need to collect water yourself on-route as the porters will collect and boil the water for you. The water is fine to drink, but if you have a sensitive stomach then you can use purification tablets.

It is also a good idea to take a powdered energy drink, like lukozade sport, too add to your water; this will help with the taste if you are treating the water and also provide a good source of energy which may be useful if you loose your apatite at altitude.

Hope this helps,
