Looks boneless -- is it squid?

You know, I can't say for sure that this part is boneless. I would guess so.

But I can say, with certainty, that this food is tentacle- free. Not squid.

Is it some kind of fin? How big is this thing any way?

This portion of this food is a good sized chunk, about 50 pounds of sea critter. The entire sea critter, though, when fully grown, can weigh as much as 3,000 pounds with a length of 21 feet.

This food is a high delicacy from it's country of origin and has been recently sampled by celebrity chef/adventurer Tony Bourdain.

Doesn't look very soupy -- is the meat from a Great White?

Not a soup -- though if you drink enough of the special liqueur that often accompanies this dish, you might feel a bit soupy.

Not a great white -- though this large destination named shark is often known for eating such critters as reindeer.

I can't see the food pic for some reason so i'm just going to play on clues alone. Having googled sharks (yes i'm very bored at work), the Taiwan Gulper Shark seems like a good option, but I would much rather it be the Japanese wobbegong shark - I think i'd enjoy ordering wobbegong in a restaurant.

I think the most likely candidate though is the Greenland Shark - whose flesh is toxic until dried and smells of amonia, mmm, good eating.

So i'm going to guess that the food pic is of Icelandic Hákarl , which according to wikipedia is Icelandic for rotten shark and is prepared by burying it for 12 weeks then drying it and is served with Brennivín

DING DING DING! I love that this food (the flesh of the Greenland Shark) is poisonous until it rots -- when it suddenly becomes, well, similar in taste to an amonia soaked sponge. Mmmm!

Nice job!

Unless you're trying to fool us (which I'm guessing you probably are), it looks like some sort of chopped leafy vegetable -- turnip greens, perhaps?

That sure is a tiny photo. Mmmm -- is this a sauce of some kind, or would one just dig right into this dish?
