Hello

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do a roadtrip to Sydney: which is the most interesting/scenic/full of variety?

I can either start in Melbourne or Brisbane (or maybe even Cairns).

I have about 10 days to do it...

I've only visited Australia once but stayed 3 months traveling in a camper van.
We flew into Cairns traveled up to Cape Trib calling on the way and staying at Port Douglas and snorkeling off the Great Barrier Reef, the highlight of my trip.Whitsundays is so beautiful and a must see.
From here we traveled down the east coast camping on the way calling in at many of the small towns as well as the larger cities, Brisbane, Sidney (well worth a visit), Christmas in Melbourne and on to the Great Ocean road.
Some fabulous scenery, beautiful beaches, met some interesting people and a great trip all round, we hope one day to travel the west coast.
To save time you could fly between the towns if your budget can stretch to it.
Do your research and you'll not be disappointed.
Check out if you need a Visa, we were able to get our on-line for a 3 month visit.

The road from brisbane to sydney is really nice, heaps of small coastal towns to check out. Cairns to sydney is a serious long way and not too much to see between townsville and brisbane (watch out in summer, there can be cyclones). The main highway from melbourne to sydney is inland so lots of farms and small towns to visit (still interesting), or you can take the smaller coast roads again with plently of towns and coastal scenery to check out.
