this thread reminds me of when we went to Bacoli, Italy. (it's a small town very close to Napoli, a few hours' drive south of Rome)

This was a VERY beautiful town. however, the week that we were there, the garbage collection people were on strike, and the trash was just piling up on the side of the streets... smelling real bad!

Wai O Tapu a short drive from Rotorua. The smell and fumes were so bad, my camera wouldn't focus. I had to turn around depress the shutter lightly, turn back to the subject and the ndepress fully. You could have had 100 people farting and you wouldn't have noticed a thing.

Have a nice day, Whistler.

Bangladesh. All of it. If I had to choose, though, I'd say Dhaka. Fortunately, the smoke from the trucks and busses coats the inside of your nose with black soot pretty quickly and dulls the sewage smell...

This open sewage-type-river at the end of my neighbourhood street in Jaipur India. I once described the smell to my claas as "like Armagedon." We had a great laugh at that! Smile
