We just spent 11 days in Fiji before heading to NZ. We spent 7 of those days at Beachside Resort just outside Nadi, awesome food and really nice helpful Kiwi couple owned/operated.

We did the Yasawa island 3 day tour... not so hot, very run down and your stranded for 3 days or longer if you go for the larger package. I could see how it would have been nice 10 years ago but its very run down and "backpacker" party based, for the price of 4star all inclusive mexico

Also not a tonne of things to do in Fiji, a few tours, so unless you enjoy laying around all day everyday keep your stay at a reasonable length, we changed our flight from 21 days down to the 11 we stayed.

We had a good time at the Amunuca Resort on Tokoriki Island in the Mamanuca Island Group. It was fairly inexpensive at about $50-60 USD per night. They were having a post cyclone "stay 2 pay 1" (buy 1 get 1 free) special at the time.

Although we did walk over to the Tokoriki Resort to eat many times to avoid the kids and families at Amunuca.

We spent most of the time hiking the island, snorkeling (awesome!), and kayaking (free).

Amunuca Resort on Tokoriki Island, well this place is totally wonderful, I've really enjoy every single bit of time in this place, and I feel hung ups for a week because of the memories of this place.
