New Providence (Nassau), Eleuthera and Harbor Islands, Puerto Rico. Eleuthera was my favorite with PR being a close second!

Wow what an extensive list of Islands.

I have not been to the carribean at all and want to spend my B'day there in Oct with another Libra. A good 2 weeks if possible.

Where do I start!! I seem to have no clue.

I want to just relax, read, swim, snorkel (can't dive) and try some local cuisine. Maybe a little partying at nite but not really my scence.

ANy recommendations folks!

Try OLD PROVIDENCE. it´s 50 miles north of San Andres Island (Colombia... yes!!!! COLOMBIA). I have a thread Called "A Little paradise in the middle of the Caribbean: Old PRovidence", in the South America Travel. I live there. Its 26 km2. It has an 18 km long road around the island. Its a volcanic island with nice hiking mountains. Snorkelling is great (diving is great, but you said no diving). It´s the third greatest Coral Reef in the world after Australia and Belize and accoring to biologists I´ve met there, it is the healthiest Coral Reef in the Caribbean. I´ve been living there for the last year. My wife is an Islander. The local cuisine is fantastic. The culture is great, the beaches are NOT crowded and you can really get a great time for yourself. You can also practice windsurf (there´s a new school in the island) and do some horseback riding. Check out the thread.

In roughly chronological order since 1990 (each bullet is a separate trip)

  • Guadeloupe (and le Saintes)
  • BVI: Tortola, Norman, Peter, Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Salt, etc.
  • Grenada, Carriacou, Union Island, Tobago Cays, Petit St. Vincent
  • St. Martin, St. Barts, Anguilla
  • St. Lucia, Martinique
  • BVI (see list above), St. John
  • St. Lucia (again), St. Vincent, Bequia, Mustique, Mayreau, Union Island, Tobago Cays (again)
  • St. Martin, St. Barts, Anguilla (again)
  • Antigua
  • BVI yet again
  • Isla Mujeres (the best thing only thing worth seeing around Cancun)
  • Aruba

I don't count Puerto Rico and St. Thomas where I've stopped over en route a few times.

These were mostly bareboat sailing trips.

Next up:

Antigua and Barbuda in April.

The caribbean is great if you can get paid to be there. Otherwise it gets pretty pricey.
