Which travel towel?

Postby KPG » January 12th, 2006

Okay - posted this elsewhere, but no replies yet so thought I would see if it fared any beter on this board:

I need to buy a travel towel and have seen a Stormlite Soft Fibre Towel in the sale at Field and Trek.

Never heard of Stormlight before - has anyone tried this make? Any good?

It's about £10 cheaper than the lifeventure one my partner has and should mean that we don't get mixed up (I hate sharing towels - urghhh!). Don't want to get towel envy halfway round the globe though.

Dont know about brands, but Id go for a large. Nothing worse than a tiny towel - sometimes you just need a little comfort! and theyre usually not much bigger than the smaller ones.

Think they have caught on to this and are now marketing 'giant' travel towels. All kinds of pictures in my head...

Yeah, mine's XL and is still pretty small. I had one of those ones about the size of a bar towel before and it was horrible - bigger is the way forward.

I carry a small microfiber one the size of a washcloth along with the medium size towel. The towel is too small and I may be buying a bigger size for the upcoming China trip.

Both of mine are PackTowl brand and have the all important loop with a snap on it so I can carry it on the outside of my pack to dry. A few years ago I bought a different brand which didn't have the loop and really regretted it. That's now used for wet dog paws at the back door as it has no travel value.

Don't bother with a towel, take a couple of sarongs - bigger, multi-use , dry quicker, lighter , don't start smelling and available in funky designs or colours and probabily way cheaper too.

I'm sure Ford Prefect would approve

One word TOWELINI. I have used a Towelini before and it was absolutely great.

A Towelini is a travel towel, beach towel, blanket and sarong all in 1. And it's organic cotton, so it dries fast and is lightweight.

Forget about all the other towels. http://www.towelini.com

Sadly, I don't need a towel that's also a dress. Only Francis Ford Coppola does on my side of the fence, it seems. How small does it fold up, is my question.

That's what I use and a sarong can be a beach towel, a bottom sheet, a top sheet, a curtain for your dorm bed, a dress, a top, a skirt and sarongs pack small.

They soak up enough water to get you dry.

towelini looks good but it seemed heavy at 2 lbs...I've never seen one, just read about it on the website. I just bring a medium size microfibre travel towel and also a sarong. The towel is good for drying off and using for my hair and the sarong is good to wrap around kind of like a bathrobe.
