How would doing a 3-6 month Software Engineering contract fit within the rules of a working holiday visa in Australia?
I'm starting my RTW trip in just over a week, I'll be in SE Asia for a few months before moving on to Australia where I plan to stay atleast until the new year before moving on to NZ. In Australia I plan on travelling down the East coast before settling in either Adelaide or Sydney, I've got the experience required to get a contract position as a Software Engineer, I'd go contracting to ensure I fit in with the 6 month rule but I still don't know how this idea would fit in with the other parts of the WHV.
Has any one got experience in doing a proffesional style job contracts while on a WHV?

I work in video production and AV services. I found getting my job in Perth to be very easy. They were actually glad to have me come in for 3 months because they wanted someone with a different background. Most people at the warehouse have never been out of the country so having someone from a very different background come in got other people to listen. In the interview they said a few things to that effect.
So, yeah, the management liked me. At first though, my co-workers had to see me work to know that I wasn't a warm body off the street, They were unsure if I was "just a backpacker", but after a few weeks it was all good.
I suggest you go that route. You'll some great connections and doing professional work overseas looks great on a resume.
