I am going to Australia in early september and now i am looking for your favourite towns!

I don´t just want to visit the typical places like perth, sydney, cairns etc, I want to find the hidden towns, the cute little towns the tourist haven´t find yet.

So come on, help me out! What is your favourite little town?

Well, I don't know if this counts as being hidden from tourists as it's in the LP guide, but North Stradbroke Island outside of Brisbane was off the beaten path for most doing the Sydney to Cairns leg since it takes a little more effort to get there than just hopping on a bus. (It's a bus+ferry+bus combo, no big deal). It isn't really a TOWN, per say- there is a small, quaint strip that I guess would constitute as "town" - but the magnificence of Straddie was in the quietude and how uninhabited it was. Plus, the North Gorge walk is lovely.

Peregian Beach is a wonderful little beach town on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, about 90 mins north of Brisbane. You can make it a stop amongst any of the other beach towns along that coast - Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Sunshine Beach, Noosa (if you must). Head inland to Maleny for crafts and markets.

Not a town per se, but I love Girraween National Park in Sth East QLD.

For QLD islands, try Straddie, Fraser and Magnetic.

I enjoyed Fremantle and Margaret River in Western Australia.

If you want off the beaten track, I say go to Arkaroola. That place is stunning. I worked there for 5 months and loved the area. As well, you will pass a few great towns on the way out. Leigh creek and copley have a few characters in them. But Arkaroola is an amazing place and truly off the beaten path.
