World Nomads Questions

Postby bakpakaddict » June 9th, 2009

1. Do they deny any claim made while in a country under a travel warning from your home gov't? I got a tad confused reading about this. For example, the US has this out on Colombia... http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/tw/tw_941.html

If I slip and fall in Colombia am I covered? Or do they only deny you if your effed over by something related to the travel warning ie kidnapping/terror?

and

2. Also, am I able to add adventure sports not listed as covered?

How much control do we have over our individual policy options? Obviously when you simply get a quote you're not presented with tons of detail...

Thanks!

Depends on the policy. There are some policies that will cover you in risk areas. You are probably better served by asking a World Nomads representative exclusively. It really depends on the policy that you get about what exclusions apply. They will also not cover certain adventure travel options in some policies as it will fall under "Deliberately putting your life at risk" category.

If you drill down in the World Nomads "What is excluded" you will see this list.

The following events are excluded:

* any problem or event that could have reasonably been foreseen or expected when you purchased your plan
* an epidemic or pandemic
* natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, fires and floods
* air, water or other pollution, or the threat of a pollutant release
* nuclear reaction, radiation or radioactive contamination
* war (declared or undeclared), acts of war, military duty, civil disorder or unrest
* terrorist events
* financial default
* unlawful acts

If you slip and fall unexpectedly, and it in not associated with any of the above events, you will be covered.
