A friend of mine's aunt left for south america and a year later came back tan and muscular on a plane ticket she bought by selling her hair, which i thought was quite courageous

Sven Hedin.

I just finished reading his book My Life As An Explorer. He journeyed and explored all over Asia and the Middle East from the 1880's until the early 20th century.

I have read this thread a few times...and the first person I think of is.

Nick O'Neill

This guy has been travelling on his own more or less for 22 years. He has overcome (like many others) obstacles to continue vagabonding and continues to do it.

Some of you may say he is my buddy and all, which he is...I just reckon he makes my "Top Ten" list.

Blazdell might come in at number 10 someday as well if he keeps at it.

LiveNomadic is an up and comer.

There are countless others around here and not who also deserve mention.
