Yet another honeymoon topic

Postby rainbowserenity » October 15th, 2006

Hi all..
I know. I know yet another honeymoon topic but alas I am in search of opinions and advice.
My fiancé and I had thought to go to Thailand for the obvious reasons.. the enchanting beaches, the culture and the sights, the food, the people and of course how far our money would stretch. We are pretty much backpackers that like to live cheaply and get into the rhythm of the local culture as opposed to glamming it in some generic resort. With that being said i am still definitely in search of the very blue blue water, sand and marine life. We happen to be getting married in early September of next year however so from what I hear Thailand would be in monsoon season. We are throwing around lots of options. My choice would be Bali we have also been throwing around some of the island in French Polynesia, Seychelles and some other islands. We are wanting to get lost in local culture and want to stay away form touristy areas live somewhat cheaply and of course be near to the blue blue water.

Any opinions, stories advice or warnings would be very much appreciated! We are pretty open and flexible.

Viajar es vivir!
thanks!

Hi Alicia
In Bali you can find all of the above and then some. There are lots of villages built near some beautiful beaches far from the tourist areas (Legian,Kuta and Seminyak).Search the baliblog site and you will find heaps of info even accomodation advice.
Congrats on you up and coming wedding.

Hi Alicia,

September is a very good month to visit Bali. We were there the whole of last September and had beautiful weather, one shower in four weeks, during the night. There are some beautiful white beaches near Padangbai, where the boats to Lombok leave. We stayed a little bit further north in a village called Seraya. We stayed in Seray Shores. This is a very small resort that Nick of Baliblog wrote about. It has no real beach (only a stone beach) but a lovely infinity pool and nice rooms with an incredible view.
No blue sea, but very beautiful rice fields can be found in the district of Tabanan. We saw a very nice hote there in a village called Belimbing.
Good luck with planning your honeymoon!
Bye, Mirjam
