You suddenly find yourself with two weeks off of work...

...for the first two weeks of May and you have a budget of $7,000 for those two weeks. What do you do? Where do you go?

Tough choice. I've got an Africa fixation at the moment, so I might take off for Namibia (particularly if you're unlikely to ever have more than two weeks at once).
Otherwise, that's easily enough money for a trip to Ecuador (indeed, my wife and I together spent about $7k on 3 weeks there, including flights from Canada, flights to the Galapagos, and a 4-day cruise), which would avoid jet lag issues. If you're looking for more familiar surroundings, maybe a couple weeks in Scotland?
$7k is enough to go almost anywhere in the world. Where catches your fancy?

It looks like you're in Canada. That being the case I'd likely stick to the Americas just because it would eliminate losing any time to jetlag.
But, if I didn't stick to the Americas, with that budget it'd be Japan. Sumo is on in Tokyo, baseball is in season, there are a quite few festivals happening all over Japan, and the weather isn't too hot yet.

How about seeing the volcano erupting in Iceland? I really enjoyed Iceland and a volcano would definitely add to the experience.

so braxtozene - where did you end up going?
Wrapping up a 17 month around the world in Feb 2013, now I'm looking to give back to the place that started it all: Bootsnall!

Two weeks and seven grand? I'd bring my girlfriend to Istanbul with me and wing it.
